Five reasons why I voted for Liz Cheney

 

This is especially true in today’s world – with today’s election – in Wyoming for sure.

I am quite concerned about today’s government, like many Americans these days.  This is one of the most trying times in the history of our country.  Certainly, a different type of “trying times” than we’ve experienced before.

A president who is not presidential.  A world-wide pandemic that changed our comfort zone overnight.

Are you happy with the way things are going in this country and in our state?  Are you willing to watch more of your rights disappear?  Do you want to see more services and freedoms cut for you and your children?  

This is why I did not vote for Harriet Hageman.

Yes, I already voted with an absentee ballot – to miss the lines and to ensure I didn’t make excuses on August 16 for not showing up.  I also “crossed over.”  I am a declared Independent, have been since I was 18, but this primary, I registered as Republican just so I could vote for Liz Cheney.

How will you vote in the primaries on August 16?  Will you support this spiraling downfall of rights we see in all layers of government today, or will you do the right thing and vote for the person who is standing up against all odds to protect our freedom?

Here are five reasons why I did not vote for Harriet Hageman and voted for Liz Cheney instead.

Reason #1.   Harriet Hageman is closely associated with the Oath Keepers.

Frank Eathorne, who was the Wyoming GOP Central Committee chair until June 22, 2022, is in deep with this militia, white supremist, hate group, whatever you want to call them.  Harriet worked closely with him on GOP matters, accompanied him to Washington, and they visited tourist attractions together.  Eathorne attended Trump functions when he was in Washington.  

Eathorne is on a first-name basis with Trump, and at the rally in Casper, Trump mentioned him by name.  Did Harriet meet Trump through Eathorne? 

Reason #2.  The FBI says the Oath Keepers are one of the largest and most prominent facist, anti-government militia groups in America.

To the tune of 38,000 members strong throughout the United States, they are heavily armed extremists, looking for a fight.  Besides raiding the U.S. Capitol, where they participated in organizing an armed mob to force their version of the Constitution, they are involved in several showdowns around the country. 

The leaders of this group are not the most honorable of men.  The Southern Poverty Law Group tracks hate groups and far-right activists and gives a long list of riotous activities lead by Elmer Scott Rhodes, who founded the Oath Keepers in 2009. 

Frank Eathorne, the Wyoming-based Oath Keeper, has also led a not-so-perfect life.  He grew up on a ranch outside of Douglas, and when he returned to Wyoming after the army in 1999, he became a police officer in Worland, Wyoming.  He was caught having sex with a girl in his patrol car, and then later stormed a dispatcher’s home, gun drawn, demanding she have sex with him.  Other members of this group have not-so-pleasant pasts, as well.

Eathorne was chair of the Wyoming GOP Central Committee from 2017 until he was voted out of office and off the party in June 2022.  After it was learned of his association with the Oath Keepers and his presence in Washington on January 6, the Republicans finally had enough of him.

They said he did not represent the values of Wyomingites.

 

 

He is reported as the worst leader in Wyoming’s GOP party in 50 years.  If people didn’t follow his agenda, he censured them.  There is infighting and dissention among the GOP party members. The vote to get rid of Eathorne was 48 to 35.   The vote to oust Liz was 31 to 29.  Not much hesitation on the part of Wyoming’s Republican leaders when it came down to it.

Reason #3.  Harriet has stars in her eyes. 

A con artist tempted her with glory, and she has lost all reason. The question is how long will she remain in Trump’s favor?  He has a history of dumping those who make him mad. How long before he dumps Harriet? 

She is selling out the people of Wyoming so she can further her own status.  In other words, she is selling us out for her political career.

She reasons that Cheney stopped caring what Wyomingites want “a long time ago.”  In her war against Trump, Liz “completely broke with what we are as a state.”  Hageman believes Cheney’s agenda is not Wyoming’s agenda, and she thinks most people do not even care about what happened on January 6.

I’m curious what she means by that.  I care what happened on January 6.  How about you?  Do you agree that a President of the United States can do whatever he pleases, including insisting he won when he didn’t, and stirring the country up over the last 18 months because he is a sore loser?  Do you really like the drama this has created?

No integrity, racist, hates women, and cares only about what happens to him.  Why are we even thinking about supporting a leader with such loose morals and values?  Or worse yet, supporting the person who supports said leader.

A good thing came out of the hearings though.  Massive corruption and an attempt to overtake the government was exposed, and now we know where the worm is.

Reason #4.  The Oath Keepers have an agenda:  To have complete control over our lives.

Party, power and politics over the people, the state, and the Constitution.  We are pawns to be controlled.

Eathorne’s main objective is to get Wyoming to secede from the Union.  

Two-thirds of the members are former military or law enforcement, one-tenth is active military or law enforcement, and they are gaining ground in the higher levels of government. Well, the presidency is as high as you go, and they definitely have Trump on their side.

They believe County Sheriffs should be the highest authority in local government.  Five Wyoming sheriffs are listed as Oath Keepers; 191 people total, but none in legislative positions. 

Although they say they are for the Constitution, it is their interpretation of it, and are sworn to disobey any orders they feel are against the Constitution.  They make the rules as they go.  This can be a problem if you find yourself on the wrong side of the law. There will be no intention of giving you a fair trial.

Reason #5.  Liz Cheney did not ask for this job, she was appointed. 

People don’t want to hear the truth. When someone stands up for what’s right and doesn’t back down, that person often becomes ostracized and shunned.  Trampled on, made fun of, treated like they have five eyes because OMG, how could they possibly have the guts to stand up and be counted. 

Just like we are treating Liz. She put her career on the line because she believes in protecting our constitutional rights.   We forget she was in the room when the Capitol was stormed, along with every other member of Congress.   How frightening that must have been!

But she is not operating on fright.  She is standing on her principles of integrity and what is right.  And she’s not backing down.  I respect that.

 

The difference between the two candidates.

Hageman talks about her opponent being a RINO, and criticizes her stance on the Committee, but what is her platform – other than smear Liz.  

I have not heard a word about what she plans on doing for Wyoming while she is in Washington.  Or will she just be a pawn and do what others tell her?  This is not a sign of a leader.  She supports Trump because he was the “best president everr…”  Amazingly, some people agree with her, but the evidence is overwhelming that he is a power-hungry man with plans to take over the government.

The main difference between Liz and Harriet, is one has integrity and fights to maintain our freedom, and the other has sold herself out to a terrible cause.

Vote on Tuesday, it is only way to stop this madness.  We do not want militia groups running Wyoming.   If you live in Wyoming, then you believe in integrity and doing the right thing.   The rest is up to your conscience.

If you vote for Hageman, don’t bitch when the reality of being ruled by dishonesty and collusion hits you full in the face.
